how to connect canon printer to laptop

There are many different ways to connect a printer to your laptop. The most common way is by using a USB port on your desktop computer, but if you are limited in this area or if you have a laptop only printer then a wireless connection may be more suitable. One option that is considered the best method for connecting printers is via the Canon Smart Wi-Fi Direct feature which allows users to connect their desktop or laptop with their printer via Wi-Fi and don't need to use any other cords.

The aim of this article will be about how to create the connection between a Canon Printer and Laptop wirelessly by using the Canon Smart Wi-Fi Direct feature.

There are many different connection mediums for printers, and the most common connections is a USB port or a USB cable. If you have limited connectivity with your desktop computer then if it's USB port is occupied by another device then you might want to use a USB hub. This connects your printer to the hub instead of connecting directly to your desktop, and thus saving some space on the desk.

**This article will not include all details on connecting a printer like what cable you need, but it will include the basics on how connect without needing any other tools.**

Those who have laptops, I suggest taking note of what ports are available as well as what devices can be plugged with each port. Your Canon Printer will most likely come with a small USB cord which is just used to install the drivers and the software. Instead of using this cable you can use your already installed laptop USB port to connect.

When setting up your Canon Printer through wireless connection there are many different ways to do this, but I will only explain how to do it through the Canon Smart Wi-Fi Direct as I think this is the easiest and fastest way.

With this method users are able to connect between a desktop or laptop computer and printer without any other tools such as USB cables or any other device. All you need for this method is your Canon Laptop and printer connected both with Wi-Fi enabled and internet connection ready.

1. Start the Canon Printer that you want to connect with your laptop and then open the application on your laptop.

2. Go to "Start" and find "Touch Pad Utilities" in the list of programs on your computer. This Camera, while it doesn't have a real window like Windows, instead it has one of visuals applications so as to help you get connected with your printer. The name can be called anything else but I will call it Touch Pad Utility because I think this sounds better than what it really is. Go there and install the app on your computer in order for the software to be installed on your computer. [download touch-pad-utilities.]

3. The next step to set up your Canon Printer is to agree with the terms of service and privacy policy.

After this you can now connect your printer and laptop. To do this follow these steps:

- Make sure your computer is in "Connected" mode, meaning that it's connected to the internet. This will be the only step you need to do on your laptop. It does not matter for this process if Wi-Fi Direct is enabled or not, as long as it's enabled on your laptop. If you're also connected to a wireless network then it automatically shows up as Connected [Wi-Fi connected] The name of this will be different from network that we've created earlier.
